My Particular Personal Career Selections Over The Course Of My Life.

Sunday, July 11th, 2010 | Jobs and Careers | No Comments

For me, considering Careers and Career choices has always been a difficult thing. I’ve never ever known what I wanted to do with my life, even now I’m a little doubtful. Truthfully, I haven’t yet made any major life-changing Career choices. I had firstly picked Geography and Environmental management at Northumbria University. I walked out after not very long, thought. Still baffled about what CareersI should be looking at did not give me much motivation to stay. So I gave up, decided to take up some part time work, and think about some New careers, ones that I had never considered before.

I obtained a part-time job at Makro, working evenings, tidying up the shelves. Not very interesting, but left my days open to think about training for New careers I might be looking at. One in particular I had been looking at was Teaching Assistant. It was one of the few Career choices that had attracted me recently. Nice working hours and holidays, working with kids, which I did not mind. The training course for level 2 was also quite short as far as training courses go, just 16 weeks in length. So I started the training, got myself a work experience place at a local school. The training flew by, but I found out something from the work experience placements. I felt too childish to be a teaching assistant. When I was struggling to control my laughter at the little hell raisers in the class winding the teacher up, I thought maybe I should start contemplating some other Careers.

So training completed, instead of looking at teaching assistant Careers, I decided to go back to university. I’d almost had a gap year, maybe I could do better this time. I decided I wasn’t going to consider what Career choices I would get from a course. I was going to do it because I enjoyed it. So I opted for Animation and Design, and started on a three year course at Sunderland University. This time, I managed to last a full year. However, the course was very difficult for me. I had never finished any art course before, and repeatedly felt far behind the rest of the group. So even though I had a lot of fun on my first year, my lack of practice was clear, and I failed. Faced with re-sitting the entire year, I decided to cut my losses and quit. So it was back to thinking about it, and time to look at some New careers I could contemplate.

Still, things never work as you plan them. Towards the end of my time at Sunderland University, I found myself falling in love. This ended up being to blame for my present line of work. My new found partner had as little idea what to do about New careers as I myself had. So he managed to get full-time work at a call centre. After leaving University, being stuck on a part-time wage wasn’t the best, and eventually I was enticed into the dark world of call centres, the idea being the good wage would get us our house together.

It did, and we now stay together, happily for the most part, although now we are both thinking about New careers we can begin. Call centre work might be a decent option for some people, there are ample opportunities to progress. Not for me though.

On the other hand, home staging means removing the client’s personality from the home. Because you can never know who the prospective buyer will be - maybe a young professional? Retired couple? A student of philosophy? The point is that you emphasize the opportunities the property offers, but still leave some space for the buyer’s own imagination.

To become a good home staging professional, you need developed visual imagination and creativity, but also the empathy with various kinds of customers. Each property has its own pluses and minuses, asking for stressing or suppressing.

First you should get some experience. Try it with your home, your parents’ home, your son’s condo and always ask for opinions. And as soon as you get enough confidence, start on the real market! For a start, contact some real estate agents in your region and leave a few of your business cards with them. Buy some newspaper adverts to find some furniture rental stores around your neighbourhood. Hard days, weeks and months will start. But if you will be able to persevere and will constantly deliver good quality with each place you stage, soon you will get receive referrals, which will help you to breathe more freely. Desiring To Get Out Of The Freezing Climate? Think About Teaching Jobs Abroad

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 | Jobs and Careers | No Comments

It is not always enjoyable living in the UK when wind, rain and flooding batters at your doorway from October to February. During the golden years of retirement, many people move away over the Christmas season only to return to Britain once the snow begins to melt. If you still rely on a monthly pay check but would prefer to be sunning yourself rather than removing snow from your shoes, then teaching jobs abroad might be for you.

Whilst you do not need to be trained as a qualified teacher at a school in the UK, you do need to take a TEFL course in order to be able to work in foreign schools teaching English to speakers of other languages. EFL training and other courses can be taken part-time or through distance learning, making it easier to work whilst you learn. carrying out your course in the summer means that as soon as winter arrives, you are ready to jet off and become a TEFL teacher.

If you have a job in the UK which does not allow you to leave for two or three months in the year then this plan might not be for you however for those of us whose working pattern is more casual, you could be working in different exotic countries every year for the rest of your working life. There are opportunities in nearly every country in the world to work as a native Brit teaching English as a second or foreign language, including China, South America and Rwanda.

Whilst flights are not always included in your contract, you can find jobs that include accommodation or give you discounted accommodation, your hours of work are less than average and the cost of living is lower than the UK.
Think about teaching small children in Thailand before finishing work in the early afternoon, taking a walk down to the golden beaches and dipping your feet in the crystal clear sea whilst your colleagues back home are wading through mushy leaves and slush. Pure Delight!
