Taking Care Of Door Frames and Doors

Savings can be made to the maintenance costs of door edges, faces and frames using door protection systems. Ideal for maintaining the pristine appearance of brand new doors or to recondition older, worn doors.
Heavy duty door protection panels provide much needed protection to vulnerable door surfaces from damage caused by vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A wide range of designs can be created by cutting and shaping door panels to match the size and aesthetics of your building.
Door Protection Panels & Plates
Door Protection Panels are rectangular shapes of thin metal or plastic used to protect the most vulnerable part of the door surfaces. The bottom of the door and the area next to the handle tend to be the areas most prone to wear and are this is normally where panels and plates are fitted. Panels can be custom made to meet particular buildings requirements and can be shaped to create a specific design.
Door Edge Protectors
Door Edge Protectors can give existing damaged doors a new lease of life. All thicknesses of doors can be accommodated so this type of protection is ideal for both old and new doors. Door Edge Protectors may be formed to suit radius or square edge doors and double swing corridor doors.
In the case of fire doors, Door Edge Protectors are available with fire/smoke seals to achieve the half hour and one hour fire rating.
Door Frame & Architrave Protectors
Door Frame & Architrave Protectors are a specialist items and normally need to be custom made to fit new or existing door frames. Impact resistance capabilities are provided by using PVCu and this provides the added benefit of reducing sharp edges.
Note: Off cuts from sheets of material are a by-product of the manufacturing process and can sometimes be used to produce kick and push plates at a discounted price.
Accessibility
Partially sighted people are assisted by D- Plates. Door handles should be easily recognised and the fitting of these coloured plates can eliminate the need for replacement handles.
Colours and Finishes
A full colour palette will be available from most manufacturers along with small samples of the actual material. The effects of ware can be reduced by selecting a textured finish such as Hessian. The edges of panels should be chamfered to leave a smooth, safe edge.
Installation
Door panels, D plates and door edge protectors can be fixed using double sided tape by most handymen. More advanced skills are needed for Door Frame & Architrave systems.
